Basketball Recap: Buhach Colony Comes Up Short

Buhach Colony was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a blow against the Atwater Falcons, falling 103-5. The matchup marked the Thunder's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Leading Atwater to victory were Andrea Sandoval and Natalia Melgoza. Sandoval went 9 for 13 on her way to 20 points and six steals, while Melgoza went 7 of 12 en route to 14 points along with eight steals and seven assists. The dominant performance gave Sandoval a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Karissa Hukill, who posted ten points and four steals.

Buhach Colony's defeat dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Atwater, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buhach Colony will head out to take on Golden Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Buhach Colony is facing Golden Valley at the right time seeing as Golden Valley is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Atwater, they will challenge Los Banos at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Atwater's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
