Baseball Game Preview: Lanier Longhorns vs. Cherokee Bluff Bears

The Lanier Longhorns will head out to challenge the Cherokee Bluff Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Lanier came up short against Milton and fell 4-1.

Lanier got a good showing from Patrick Goodheart, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Goodheart a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Lanier saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Thornton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Cherokee Bluff also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to West Hall by a score of 8-4.

Lanier's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Cherokee Bluff, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.

Lanier couldn't quite finish off Cherokee Bluff when the teams last played back in February of 2022 and fell 4-2. Can the Longhorns avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
