Basketball Recap: River Valley Falls Short of Central Cambria in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact River Valley can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to the Central Cambria Red Devils. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their 26-game winning streak.

River Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Persichetti, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 19 points and three steals. Persichetti's big performance that evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Cole, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, River Valley fell to 26-1. As for Central Cambria, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-8.

River Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central Cambria, they will be playing at home against Keystone Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th.
