Basketball Recap: Methacton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Fleetwood last Saturday, Methacton came back down to earth. The Methacton Warriors took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spring-Ford Rams on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 70-32 loss last Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Methacton lost, don't look at Abby Arnold. Despite the final result, she posted 15 points. Arnold's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Cingiser, who scored eight points.

Spring-Ford's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haley Prophet, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points. Prophet is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kareena Preuss, who earned 13 points and six rebounds.

Methacton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for Spring-Ford, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6.

Methacton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spring-Ford, they will face off against Pope John Paul II at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pope John Paul II will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Spring-Ford surely won't give up without a fight.
