Recap: Sutter Huskies vs. Bear River Bruins

The Sutter Huskies struggled with assists on Friday (the Bear River Bruins had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The matchup between Sutter and Bear River wasn't particularly close, with Sutter falling 67-51. Sutter has not had much luck with Bear River recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Torrence Harter and Lainey Davis certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Harter almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 12 rebounds, and nine blocks, while Davis scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Harter is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Ketterling, who scored seven points.

Bear River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Krissy Kelly led the charge by scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Gabby Sams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists.

Sutter now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Bear River, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.

Sutter will head out on the road to square off against Twelve Bridges at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Sutter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Bear River, they will head out on the road to challenge Colfax at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bear River is coming into the matchup with six straight wins on the road, so Colfax is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
