Basketball Game Preview: El Modena Vanguards vs. Pacifica Mariners

The El Modena Vanguards will venture away from home to face off against the Pacifica Mariners at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. El Modena's defense has only allowed 26.3 points per game this season, so Pacifica's offense will have their work cut out for them.

El Modena's usually-dominant defense will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Troy offense got past them. El Modena received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 58-43 to Troy.

Meanwhile, Pacifica was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 65-25 loss at the hands of Brea Olinda. While losing is never fun, the Mariners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 962nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 177th).

Pacifica's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for El Modena, their loss dropped their record down to 18-5.

Everything came up roses for El Modena against Pacifica in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as the team secured a 53-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for El Modena since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
