Sheldon is 0-4 against Laguna Creek since December of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Sheldon Huskies will be playing at home against the Laguna Creek Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sheldon is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Elk Grove: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Sheldon blew Elk Grove out of the water with a 59-26 final score. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Thundering Herd: they've now won eight in a row.
Sheldon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklin Kimmons, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe McAfee, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Laguna Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They breezed past Franklin to the tune of 72-33 on Wednesday. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Wildcats are ranked 673rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Laguna Creek's win came from a few key players Sheldon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jestine Tofi, who earned 15 points and three blocks. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Trinity Thao was another key player, putting up 16 points and six assists.
Laguna Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 24 consecutive contests.
Laguna Creek pushed their record up to 17-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Sheldon, their win bumped their record up to 16-10.
Sheldon came up short against Laguna Creek in their previous meeting back in January, falling 79-75. Will Sheldon have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
