Roswell is a perfect 5-0 against Mayfield since September of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Coyotes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Roswell is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Artesia, who was ranked sixth at the time (Roswell was ranked ninth). The matchup between the Coyotes and the Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Coyotes falling 42-28. That makes it the first time this season the Coyotes have let down their home crowd.

Despite their loss, Roswell saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Luis Rodriguez, who rushed for 119 yards and one TD, was perhaps the best of all. Noah Estrada was another key pass catcher, gaining 71 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Mayfield had to suffer through a 48-10 loss at the hands of Goddard.

Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Roswell, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.

Roswell won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, slipping by Mayfield 28-27. Will the Coyotes repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
