Softball Recap: Adams City Finds Home Field Redemption Against Battle Mountain

There's no place like home for Adams City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 20-14 margin over the Battle Mountain Huskies on Saturday. The Eagles not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since October 1, 2024 (when they won 12-0).

Karyme Martinez was a standout: she got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and five runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Anastasia Ruiz was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Adams City's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Battle Mountain, they dropped their record down to 5-5 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Adams City will host Kennedy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Commanders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.18 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Battle Mountain, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Basalt at 5:00 p.m. The Longhorns have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
