Basketball Recap: South Iredell Comes Up Short

South Iredell lost against Cox Mill back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The South Iredell Vikings were beaten by the Cox Mill Chargers 82-43. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while the Chargers are ranked 199th).

James Carswell was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 12 en route to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals for Cox Mill. What's more, Carswell also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Sherod McCmormick was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points.

South Iredell has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Cox Mill, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-10.

South Iredell has already played their next game (against Hickory Ridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cox Mill has already played their next contest, a 73-64 victory against West Cabarrus on the 28th.
