Football Recap: Lassen Starts Season with Win Against Shasta + How To Watch

Lassen gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Shasta Wolves 44-7. For the Grizzlies, this counts as revenge for the 28-26 victory the Wolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Dathen Moore was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 147 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 15th straight game with at least 102 rushing yards dating back to last season. Brian Rudd was another key player, throwing for 116 yards and one TD while completing 80% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lassen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 236 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 187 rushing yards in 15 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Lassen will be playing at home against Red Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Shasta, they will venture away from home to take on Eureka at 7:30 p.m. on September 6.
