Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jayda Bushling and Jessie Bunting Lead Kern Valley to Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Kern Valley walked away with it. They secured a 57-52 W over the Arvin Bears on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Broncs.

Leading Kern Valley to victory were Jessie Bunting and Jayda Bushling. Bunting went 8-for-9 on her way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks, while Bushling dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten steals. The dominant performance also gave Bunting a new career-high in shooting accuracy (89%). Another player making a difference was Ava Elliott, who posted a point along with 18 boards, eight steals, and six assists.

Despite the loss, Arvin still got an impressive performance from Mariana Soto, who put up 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Soto has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played. Jasmin Rosales was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Kern Valley's victory bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Arvin, their loss dropped their record down to 13-14.

Kern Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-39 defeat against Rosamond on the 18th. Arvin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
