Football Recap: Winfield Vikings vs. Mulvane Wildcats
Winfield extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They took a blow against the Mulvane Wildcats, falling 56-7. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Kellen Gibson threw for 102 yards on only nine passes. Korban Benevides was his top target, picking up 88 receiving yards. On the ground, Elijah Bergesen rushed for 49 yards.

Manny rushed for 121 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries while Grady rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. Manny's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 119 rushing yards.
Winfield and Mulvane are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Vikings will head out on the road to take on Wamego at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mulvane, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Circle at 7:00 p.m. The Wildcats will be up against the Thunderbirds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
