Recap: West Branch Warriors vs. Glendale Vikings
The West Branch Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Glendale Vikings on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 43-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. If West Branch hoped to take revenge for the 45-29 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
West Branch lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sarah Guglielmi, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Mertz, who scored eight points.
Glendale's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hannah Matish, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
West Branch's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Glendale, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Branch will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Moshannon Valley at 7:15 p.m. on January 15th. As for Glendale, they will square off against Juniata Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Juniata Valley is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
