Soccer Game Preview: Drew vs. Douglass

Drew will head out on the road to challenge the Douglass Astros at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Drew fell victim to Pace Academy and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Knights. While losing is never fun, Drew can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Pace Academy is ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, Douglass was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Mays who was credited with the win. Mays got it done in the shootout by posting six goals to Douglass' five.

Douglass' defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Drew, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything went Drew's way against Douglass in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Drew made off with a 5-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Drew since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
