Basketball Recap: Troy Skates Past Williamson with Ease

Troy came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Williamson Warriors to the tune of 67-26. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Warriors are ranked 596th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Kailyn Sterling, who went 9 for 11 on her way to 20 points along with seven boards and seven steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gloria Andrews, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Troy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williamson only posted ten assists.

Williamson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kenna Thomas, who earned 11 points and six rebounds, and Olivia Meisner, who had six points and five boards.

Troy's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Williamson, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will head out to face off against North Penn-Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Haley Litzelman and Sterling. As for Williamson, they will venture away from home to take on Mansfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
