Basketball Recap: Poway Comes Up Short

Poway was the 40-25 winner over Rancho Bernardo when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Poway Titans were beaten by the Rancho Bernardo Broncos 62-23 on Tuesday. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.

Mya McGowan and Emily Farr certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. McGowan posted eight points and nine boards, while Farr had three points and nine rebounds. Farr has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 15 times she's played. Louison Lartiguet also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Lindsay Biddle was her usual excellent self, putting up 26 points for Rancho Bernardo. Keira Tokushige was another key player, scoring 12 points.

Poway has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Rancho Bernardo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poway will take on Del Norte at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Poway is facing Del Norte at the right time seeing as Del Norte is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Rancho Bernardo, they will face off against Westview at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Bernardo is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
