Football Recap: Central Wins High-Profile Contest Against the First Academy + How To Watch

Central is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of The First Academy. The Red Devils skirted past the Royals 38-35. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayshaun Woodhouse, who rushed for 138 yards and one TD on only 14 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 70 yards. Braylen Averett also helped out as he racked up 136 receiving yards.

The First Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaelyn Powell, who rushed for 126 yards and one touchdown. The Royals also got help from Demetrice McCray, who showed off his sure hands for 116 receiving yards.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for The First Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Central will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Smiths Station at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Red Devils' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for The First Academy, they have already played their next match, a 57-7 win against Treasure Coast on the 4th.
