Basketball Recap: Strathmore Beats Mission Oak for Their Fifth Straight Win

Strathmore came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Mission Oak Hawks by a score of 42-32. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 46-33 victory the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Mission Oak saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aiyana Murray dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Murray a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miya Centeno, who posted four points in addition to 11 rebounds and four steals.

Strathmore is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points per game. As for Mission Oak, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.

Strathmore has already played their next match, a 32-15 win against Lindsay on the 28th. As for Mission Oak, they will take on Tulare Western at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
