Preview: San Juan Spartans vs. Foothill Mustangs

The San Juan Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Foothill Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Juan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.

Last Tuesday, San Juan was beaten by El Camino 63-11. While losing is never fun, San Juan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1068th, while El Camino is ranked 407th).

Meanwhile, Foothill took their match on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 52-12 victory over Leroy Greene Academy. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-8.

Zeniah Thompson and Kaliyah Benjamin-Wade were among the main playmakers for Foothill as the former scored 19 points and the latter scored 24 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Thompson has scored at least 25% of Foothill's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joyce Runner, who scored 5 points.

Foresthill's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while San Juan's loss dropped theirs to 0-4.

San Juan barely slipped by Foothill in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 1-0. Does San Juan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Foothill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
