Preview: Bishop LeBlond Eagles vs. St. Joseph Christian Lions
Bishop LeBlond is 3-0 against St. Joseph Christian since September of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. After each having a week off, both teams will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Bishop LeBlond is ranked 15th, while St. Joseph Christian is ranked 12th).
Two weeks ago, things could have been worse for Bishop LeBlond, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 37-22 loss to Plattsburg.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jackson Sigrist, who picked up 71 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Christian entered their tilt with Stanberry with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. St. Joseph Christian was the clear victor by a 28-8 margin over Stanberry. Considering St. Joseph Christian has won four matchups by more than 19 points this season, two weeks ago's blowout was nothing new.
Peyton Hausman was his usual excellent self, rushing for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Hausman is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Bishop LeBlond's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Plattsburg, Archie, and Schuyler County. As for St. Joseph Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as Bishop LeBlond and St. Joseph Christian haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Bishop LeBlond commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph Christian struggles in that department as they've been even better at 6.9 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Everything came up roses for Bishop LeBlond against St. Joseph Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 40-0 victory. Will Bishop LeBlond repeat their success, or does St. Joseph Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
