Football Game Preview: St. Pius X Sartans vs. Silver Fighting Colts + How To Watch

St. Pius X is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out to square off against the Silver Fighting Colts at 7:00 p.m. St. Pius X will be strutting in after a win while Silver will be coming in after a defeat.

Silver will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: St. Pius X extended their winning streak to three two weeks ago. The Sartans walked away with a 28-21 victory over Organ Mountain.

Hershul Olloway Jr was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 255 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 14.2 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. St. Pius X also got help from Cayl Cox-Liggins, who showed off his sure hands for 122 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Pius X was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Silver came up short against Valencia on Friday and fell 14-6. The loss was the Fighting Colts' first of the season.

St. Pius X will need to focus on slowing down Mekhi Grant, one of several Silver players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 56 receiving yards and one score, and also threw for zero yards and one touchdown.

St. Pius X's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Silver, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

St. Pius X was able to grind out a solid victory over Silver in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 16-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
