Recap: Madison Mavericks vs. Taft Raiders
After flying high against Lee last Tuesday, Madison came back down to earth. The Madison Mavericks fell just short of the Taft Raiders by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. Madison was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Taft apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
For Taft's part, they got a great performance from Ethan Barrera as he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off only one hit.
At the plate, Eduardo Toral was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Barrera, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Madison's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-13. As for Taft, their win bumped their record up to 4-15-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will take on Churchill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Taft, they will be playing at home against Harlan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
