Softball Game Preview: Sonoraville Phoenix vs. LaFayette Ramblers

The Sonoraville Phoenix will head out on the road to face off against the LaFayette Ramblers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Sonoraville sitting on four straight victories and LaFayette on 17.

LaFayette's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Sonoraville hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Phoenix came out on top against Ringgold by a score of 4-0 on Monday.

Lila Mullinax looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Sonoraville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Angel, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, LaFayette was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They skirted past Murray County 4-3.

Sonoraville's record now sits at 23-5. As for LaFayette, their record is now 24-3.

Sonoraville came out on top in a nail-biter against LaFayette when the teams last played back in August, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Phoenix since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
