Flag Football Recap: Highland's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Highland faced Mountain Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Hawks simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mountain Lions 41-7. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Alexis Eley produced another solid performance throwing for 275 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.9% of her passes, and also rushing for 70 yards. What's more, she racked up 148.5 passer rating, the most she's had since back in September. Emilee Searle was Eley's top target, picking up 68 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Highland's defense stepped up as well, laying out Amiaya Tice four times. Kylie Riggs was especially locked on to Mountain Ridge's QB and sacked her three times. Riggs is crushing it when it comes to sacks: she's posted at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Mountain Ridge's loss came despite strong showings from Tice and Kaliyahna Baldwin. Tice threw for 205 yards and one TD, while Baldwin picked up 123 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The victory keeps Highland at an undefeated 9-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.3 points on average this season. As for Mountain Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Highland has already played their next game, a 40-14 defeat against Hamilton on the 11th. As for Mountain Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 31-21 victory against Desert Vista on the 14th.
