Football Recap: Montgomery Academy Continues Road Dominance on Friday + How To Watch

Montgomery Academy barely beat Trinity Presbyterian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 38-12 margin over the Wildcats on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Reid McBride produced another solid performance throwing for 259 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 70 yards on only seven carries. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. A healthy portion of McBride's aerial production (110 yards to be exact) went to Jarrett Friendly, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Montgomery Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out Land Sharpless four times. In that department, John Bennett Lester was the leader with two sacks. Montgomery Academy got some further help from Braden Gordon: he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Montgomery Academy pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.2 points over those games. As for Trinity Presbyterian, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-2 record.

Looking ahead, Montgomery Academy will host Slocomb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Tops will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Trinity Presbyterian, they will head out on the road to face off against Northside Methodist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
