Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rocky Mountain). Everything went their way against the Poudre Impalas on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-3 win. Considering the Lobos have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Claire Killingsworth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Rocky Mountain got a massive performance out of Audrey Abernathy, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one double. Those four hits gave Abernathy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ariana Jackson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Rocky Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Rocky Mountain's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Poudre, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
