Basketball Recap: Second Baptist Beats Macarthur for Their Second Straight Win

Second Baptist won the last time they faced MacArthur and Grace Wehring did her part to make sure it happened again. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Brahmas 42-39 thanks in part to Wehring, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points in addition to five boards and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Reese Ertan, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 12 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, MacArthur still got an impressive performance from Ellie Lee, who shot 75% from the field en route to 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 69.2% of the Brahmas' points, marking the fourth time in a row Lee has posted more than a third of the team's points. Angel Quick also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Second Baptist and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 49 points in those games. As for MacArthur, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Second Baptist has already played their next game, a 60-33 win against Alamo Heights on the 15th. As for MacArthur, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-11 victory against King on the 15th.
