Basketball Recap: Casey Frost's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heritage Christian over Purdue Polytechnic

Heritage Christian fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Purdue Polytechnic on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 66-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Purdue Polytechnic Techies. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-40 back in November of 2024.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Casey Frost, who posted 13 points in addition to seven assists and four blocks. That's the most assists Frost has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Trinity Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Heritage Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Purdue Polytechnic only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

Purdue Polytechnic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Te'Asia Briscoe out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The game was Briscoe's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Nyiah Rogers, who earned 14 points along with six assists and four steals.

Heritage Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Purdue Polytechnic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.

Heritage Christian has already played their next matchup, a 64-40 win against Anderson on the 21st. As for Purdue Polytechnic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-42 defeat against Cathedral on the 16th.
