Softball Recap: Gross Catholic's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Gross Catholic dropped down to 4-4 on Thursday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 14-2 to the Blair Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 13-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Gross Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Kosse, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Kennedi Ciaccio also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Blair, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Blair's side, the team relied heavily on Regan Blattert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Blattert has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlynn O'Neil, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gross Catholic will challenge Wahoo at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Blair, they will square off against Ralston at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
