Softball Recap: Newnan Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northside, Newnan was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Morrow Mustangs a 16-0 shutout. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.

CA Moss looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024.

At the plate, Riley Gray was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Webb, who earned three RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

Newnan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Newnan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Morrow, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Newnan is taking a road trip to square off against Northside at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Morrow, they will take on McIntosh at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
