Purdue Polytechnic had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 11-9 to make it four. They lost 12-2 to the Ben Davis Giants. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Techies couldn't push the score so high this time.
Purdue Polytechnic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Abdurrahim, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one double.
As for Ben Davis, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-16. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 26, 2025 (when they won 14-2).
On Ben Davis' side, Tyler Morris made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, Morris posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Avery Mitchell was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Ben Davis: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kylin Higgins, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Purdue Polytechnic has already played their next contest, a 13-3 win against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial on the 16th. As for Ben Davis, they will challenge Speedway at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Sparkplugs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.73 runs per game on average), something the Giants will no doubt try to take advantage of.
