Basketball Game Preview: South Spartans vs. Tehachapi Warriors

South hasn't had much luck against Tehachapi recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The South Spartans will be playing at home against the Tehachapi Warriors at 6:30 p.m.

South is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. The contest between them and North didn't end well, with South falling 46-27.

Meanwhile, Tehachapi entered their tilt with Golden Valley on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Bulldogs, posting a 59-23 win. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 684th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South better keep an eye on Koree Rodden. She was instrumental in Tehachapi's win, going 7 for 16 on her way to 19 points along with eight boards and seven assists. With that strong performance, Rodden is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Smith, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Tehachapi smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Tehachapi pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for South, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

South was taken down by Tehachapi 53-14 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point South was down 27-2.
