Soccer Game Preview: Chavez vs. Tokay

The Chavez Titans will venture away from home to challenge the Tokay Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chavez has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight losses, while Tokay will come in with eight straight wins.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Chavez's offense. They fell just short of Bear Creek by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 999th, while the Bruins are ranked 381st).

Meanwhile, Tokay kept a clean sheet against Edison on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Vikings out 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Tigers were the better team in the second half.

Tokay's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four games. As for Chavez, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8-2.

Chavez suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Tokay when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Chavez avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
