The Atlas HomeSchool Rattlers will square off against the Tomball Christian HomeSchool Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Atlas HomeSchool has given up an average of 37.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Atlas HomeSchool ended up a good deal behind First Baptist and lost 41-26. The Rattlers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Timmy Thames and Dylan Jones. Jones had a solid game and threw for 257 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Meanwhile, Thames was balling out in the loss, throwing for 368 yards and three TDs, while also punching in one score on the ground.
Atlas HomeSchool didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Thames.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tomball Christian HomeSchool). They breezed past TMI-Episcopal to the tune of 52-21 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Tomball Christian HomeSchool's win came from a few key players Atlas HomeSchool will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaden Goodie, who rushed for 84 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Luke Harrison was another key player, picking up 124 receiving yards and one TD.
Atlas HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Tomball Christian HomeSchool, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Atlas HomeSchool has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 181.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Tomball Christian HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've been averaging 153.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
