Basketball Recap: Poway Comes Up Short

Poway lost against El Capitan back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Poway Titans were dealt a 65-28 loss at the hands of the El Capitan Vaqueros. The match marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

El Capitan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lilly Williams out in front who went 7 of 8 on her way to 15 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Sample, who posted eight points along with nine steals and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Poway and nudges their season record down to 6-8. As for El Capitan, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Poway has already played their next contest, a 61-45 defeat against Dana Hills on the 28th. As for El Capitan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-53 victory against Clovis North on the 28th.
