Softball Recap: Bear Creek Comes Up Short

Bear Creek extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-8. They lost 17-0 to the Golden Demons. The game marked the first time this season in which the Bears were not able to get on the board.

As for Golden, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games.

For Golden's part, the team relied heavily on Lucca Merz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Merz a new career-high. Molli Nath was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Bear Creek and Golden will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bears are set to face off against their familiar foe Valor Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Golden will take on rival Green Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
