Basketball Game Preview: Davis Sr. Blue Devils vs. McClatchy Lions

Davis Sr. is 1-6 against McClatchy since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Blue Devils will be taking part in a tournament against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Davis Sr. is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, Davis Sr. was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-43 to Inderkum. While the Blue Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 21-14 in the first quarter.

Despite their defeat, Davis Sr. saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sonia Clayton, who shot 64% from the field en route to 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Thanks to that strong game, Clayton now owns an excellent 45.7% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorelei Nachman, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine assists.

Meanwhile, McClatchy entered their tilt with Fairfield on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Falcons 60-40. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly 20 points.

McClatchy's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Davis Sr., their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Davis Sr. took a serious blow against McClatchy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 65-30. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
