Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Takes a Loss

Cornerstone Christian came into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Ridgeview Mustangs by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 10, 2025, but that streak is no more.

Josh Kursell put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Cornerstone Christian is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

Kursell wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tre Donald, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those hits were Donald's first of the season.

Cornerstone Christian's record now sits at 2-4. As for Ridgeview, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Cornerstone Christian will venture away from home to take on Olympia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Ridgeview, they will welcome Fisher at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs are facing the Bunnies at the right time seeing as the Bunnies are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
