Baseball Game Preview: Thurston Eagles vs. Annapolis Cougars

Thurston is 2-8 against Annapolis since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Eagles will face off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Thurston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Thurston fell victim to Garden City and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 16-0.

Meanwhile, Annapolis lost 17-3 to Trenton on Saturday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Eric Armstrong made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Annapolis' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 6-12 when he doesn't).

Annapolis' loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Thurston, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Thurston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Annapolis struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Thurston suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Annapolis when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
