Basketball Game Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Olympian Eagles

The Carlsbad Lancers will take on the Olympian Eagles in a tournament on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Carlsbad put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They took an 81-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Marcos. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (58), the Lancers still had to take the loss.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Saturday. Olympian breezed past El Camino to the tune of 78-51. The game marked Olympian's most dominant victory of the season so far.

Olympian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Carlsbad, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

Carlsbad beat Olympian 65-58 when the teams last played back in February. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Eagles' Jordan Walker, who went 7-for-16 on his way to 16 points and five boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Lancers still be able to contain Walker? There's only one way to find out.
