Basketball Recap: Sayre Comes Up Short

After flying high against Galeton last Saturday, Sayre came back down to earth. The Sayre Redskins took a blow against the Athens Wildcats on Tuesday, falling 60-13. The Redskins have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Abbie McGaughey was Sayre's leading scorer, having posted five points. Rylee Lantz held things down on the boards with ten rebounds. Liz Hunter took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Athens, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Sayre will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Williamson at 7:15 p.m. As for Athens, they will venture away from home to challenge Towanda at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Towanda will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Athens surely won't give up without a fight.
