Recap: Liberty Lions vs. Caruthers Blue Raiders
On Friday, Liberty took a serious blow against Caruthers, falling 73-37. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 556th, while Caruthers is ranked 270th).
Liberty used a three-pronged attack on offense:
Lea Salinas beamen,
Shyanne Smith, and
Madison Perea posted six points each. Perea also led the team in rebounds with 13.
Jasmin Leon took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Liberty has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Caruthers, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Liberty and Cardinal Newman will face off at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cardinal Newman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Liberty likes a good challenge. Caruthers won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Acalanes at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. Acalanes will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
