Basketball Game Preview: Pinole Valley Spartans vs. Justin-Siena Braves

The Pinole Valley Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Justin-Siena Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pinole Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They slipped by Lick-Wilmerding 60-59. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Justin-Siena waltzed into their match on Saturday with 16 straight wins... but they left with 17. They put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 62-39 win. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Wolves are ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pinole Valley better keep an eye on Jordan WASHINGTON. She was instrumental in Justin-Siena's win, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which WASHINGTON has scored at least a third of Justin-Siena's points. Dylan Zapolski was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 11 points and seven assists.

Justin-Siena smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Pinole Valley's record is now 19-11. As for Justin-Siena, their record now sits at 25-2.
