Soccer Game Preview: Alamogordo vs. Mayfield

The Alamogordo Tigers will challenge the Mayfield Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alamogordo has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 30.

Alamogordo is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Organ Mountain on Tuesday. The Tigers lost 4-1 to the Knights. While losing is never fun, Alamogordo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico soccer rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Organ Mountain are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, Mayfield fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Centennial on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 2-1.

Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 12-4-1. As for Alamogordo, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Alamogordo suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Mayfield in their previous meeting back in September. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Tigers were down 3-0.
