Basketball Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short

Foothill lost against Pleasant Valley back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Foothill Cougars received a blow as they fell 57-42 to the Pleasant Valley Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Vikings are ranked 24th).

When it comes to explaining why Foothill lost, don't look at Maddi Hart. Despite the final result, she on her way to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Kyndal Whitehouse, who posted ten points.

Pleasant Valley was led to victory by Aj Gambol and Ava Dunn. Gambol en route to 24 points, while Dunn had six points along with 18 rebounds and four blocks. That's the most blocks Dunn has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyah Fortune, who put up six points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Foothill has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season. The win was the eighth in a row for Pleasant Valley, bringing their record for this year to 23-4.

Foothill has already played their next contest, a 67-58 defeat against Chico on the 20th. Pleasant Valley will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on February 25th. The timing is sure in Pleasant Valley's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Enterprise has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
