Softball Recap: Elkhorn South Wins High-Profile Contest Against Elkhorn North

Elkhorn South faced Elkhorn North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Storm came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 9-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Storm also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2020.

Ollie Songster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Kacie Hinrichs was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Shield, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Elkhorn South's win bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Elkhorn North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-9.

Elkhorn South has already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against Elkhorn on the 2nd. As for Elkhorn North, they will welcome Gretna at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wolves 3.7, the Dragons 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
