Baseball Recap: Lakeside Comes Up Short

If Lakeside was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Burke County last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lakeside Panthers fell just short of the Harlem Bulldogs by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost nine in a row.

Lakeside got a good showing from Tyler Malloy, who struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave Malloy a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Josh Lombardo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Lakeside's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Harlem, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Looking ahead, Lakeside will be playing at home against Harlem at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harlem, they are taking a road trip to take on Baldwin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Baldwin: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Harlem has snatched up 12 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
