Soccer Game Preview: Islands vs. Glynn Academy

The Islands Sharks will square off against the Glynn Academy Terrors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Islands' last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Islands didn't have quite enough to beat Calhoun and fell 3-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Islands came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Calhoun are ranked 160th).

Meanwhile, Glynn Academy kept a clean sheet against Effingham County on Wednesday. They blew past the Rebels 6-0. Glynn Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by three goals or more this season.

Glynn Academy pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those six games. As for Islands, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.

Islands suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Glynn Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Sharks were down 3-0.
