Football Game Preview: Central Christian Cougars vs. St. Paul Indians

The Central Christian Cougars will challenge the St. Paul Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

St. Paul will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Central Christian extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Cougars took their game with ease, bagging a 50-0 victory over Fairfield. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Falcons are ranked 61st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Piercen Huff, who rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Eigsti, who threw for 111 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Central Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 220 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 220 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Paul). They strolled past Crest with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 72-54.

The win got St. Paul back to even at 2-2. As for Central Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Everything came up roses for Central Christian against St. Paul in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 52-6 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
